HOW TO STAY POSITIVE

Everyone can go through a period of time where they feel stressed, and find it hard to keep a positive mindset. I can sometimes be like that, and specially now that I have exams coming up, I often feel trapped within my own mind, and I need different things to help me stay positive all the time.

DIORSKIN FOREVER REVIEW

All I have ever heard about Christian Dior products is how amazing they are, how long they last, and the quality that you are investing in. As everyone knows, they are definitely on the luxury side of beauty, but i think they are 100% worth it. I wanted to try a primer and a foundation as my first Dior products, firstly because I needed a new foundation, and secondly because I was dying to try Dior’s new collection. So I was really excited when I walked into Sephora, to see the Dior Forever Foundation and Concealer. I decided to pick up the lightest shade of the foundation, just to stay on the safe side, and thank goodness I did, as I find that it’s on the limit of being too dark for me. As that day I was wearing no makeup, I went home and tried out my new products straight away. The primer is light on the skin and is very hydrating. My makeup lasted perfectly till the end of the day, so I was very impressed. The foundation was creamy and easy to blend. It has amazing coverage, but it can also be built up to be super high coverage, without looking fake and caky at all. This might sound silly, but it absorbs concealer extremely well, and the Maybelline Anti-Age concealer is a perfect ‘match’ for it. I am very impressed and happy with these two products, and I highly recommend them. I was so pleased that i went to pick up some more Dior products to try them out, so make sure to look out for some blog posts soon.
Have you ever tried any Dior products?

5 THINGS TO DO WHEN YOU'RE HUNGOVER

Woke up with a terrible head ache, realising that maybe you had a bit too much to drink last night? Here are the five tips that I think are the most efficient in this situation.

1: Drink.
By drinking, of course, I mean water, and you should drink as much of it as you can. Your body needs to get rid of all the waste of the alcohol, so to help it, you need to drink water.
2: Eat.
Food absorbs alcohol, so, even if you drank a few hours ago, eating, especcialy carbohydrates, will help the level of alcohol in your blood go down, helping to calm down your headache.
3: Sleep.
Sleep as much a you can, but before drifting off remember to eat and drink, so when you wake up you can feel a little more refreshed.
4: Have a bath or a shower.
Do this after all the steps above, to try to relax and soothe your body. Of course a bath is more relaxing, but if you can’t have one, a shower is just fine. Just make sure to relax the best you can.
5: Take a pain relief tablet.
Only do this one all the steps above have not helped, even though your drinks would have had to been extremely strong for you to still feel bad!

Anyway, I hope these were helpful, and let me know in the comments the most embracing think you have ever done while being drunk! Love, Sara xx

LUXURY BEAUTY WISHLIST

Ever since this came out, I’ve been dying to try it out, as the little sqichy sponge in the middle looks so easy to use, an all the reviews I’ve read have been positive.

apparently one of the best products to cover up dark circles, so I am definitely going to have to try this sometime soon!

if someone has an obsession with lipsticks, it’s me. And don’t get me started on how much I adore liquid lipsticks. These are some of the most talked about liquid lipsticks, but as they are mainly available in the US, I’ve never tried them, but I’m planning to do a little online shopping soon.

big in Korea, and it’s amazing for keeping the skin around your eyes hydrated and helps to look half awake during very early mornings!

lately I’ve been hearing about this product ever so much, so, as exam period is coming up, and I know I’ll have a lot of late nights and early mornings, I’m sure this will be a necessity to look half awake during my countless exams!

when I initially read that these were super shiny and glossy, I nearly turned the page of the magazine I was reading, but when I did’t, and I kept on reading, I found that it fades into a shine-free shade. Everything I read after that were praises about how amazing these products are.

MINI MAKEP COLLECTION-LIPS

I filmed my makeup collection this week, even though it’s going up in June, but I felt like I wanted to go a bit more in depth on all the products I own. I’ve done a lot of blog posts about quite a few of these products, so what I’m going to do is link below the different blog posts and talk about the products that I haven’t written about.

RIMMEL-LASTING FINISH, COLOUR RUSH

Where do I start? I absolutely love the Rimmel Lasting Finish Colour Rush pencils. As you know lip pencils are my thing, and I own a stupid amount. I saw these when I went to a new store in my town, and, having heard nothing about them, I picked them up. These are all the shades that this particular shop sold. They are all extremely creamy shades, which makes them seem more like lipsticks than pencils. The shades are all really easy to wear everyday.

15 OF FEBRUARY'S PHOTOS

This month I wanted to start something new. I’ve been into photography for a long time now, and ever since I can remember I would steal my dad’s camera and take photos while we were on holiday. Nowadays I don’t have much chance to take any pictures, except of the beautiful sunsets outside my windows, so that’s the main thing that will be featured on these posts. I’m thinking of doing these monthly, and posting 10 of my favourite photos of the month.

BENEFIT-ULTRA PLUSH LIP BALMS

I was very excited when I first saw the Benefit Ultra Plush Lip Balms on the shelf. They were also on sale, so it was a sign that I had to get them! Once I tried them I knew that they would be some of my favourite lip products, as my lips in this season are always very dry, and balms are the best products for my lips.
Dallas is a antique pink shade, which is one of my absolute favourites. Hoola is a light nude, which is very similar to my actual lip colour, so it acts more as a transparent lip balm. Sugarbomb is a dark pink nude, whereas Dandelion is a light pink nude. Coralista is a vibrant orange, and this is such a beautiful shade. Bella Bamba is a red/pin shade, and this one looks amazing with a smoky eye. They are all extremely hydrating and are great if, like me, you have extremely dry lips. I think they still may be on sale online on the Sephora store, so make sure to go and see.

DIOR BY DIOR REVIEW

Over the last 7 or 8 years that I’ve had a big passion for fashion and fashion designing, I’ve been given quite a few books related to the subject, and I now have a lovely collection of about 25 books to find inspiration from. Recently I was given the Christian Dior autobiography: Dior by Dior. I immediately started reading it, to find myself completely immersed in the book starting from the first sentence. I have now read it all, and I can definitely say that it is the best autobiography I have ever read. It shows every part of his life, from when he started Maison Dior to when he passed away. I absolutely recommend this to anybody that is interested in fashion. Even if you aren’t, trust me, it’s a very good read! I think I might have to read it again next year from how much I loved it!
ps. I’m thinking of doing some of these book review posts when I finish books about fashion, what do you think? Love, Sara xx

MY FAVOURITE INSTAGRAM ACCOUNTS

When I started thinking about writing this post, I had two accounts in mind that I wanted to talk about. Now I have five. So these are the five people/accounts you have to be following on Instagram. By the way, my Instagram is undergroundfairytales, so make sure to check me out and follow me.
--------------------------------------------------------angelicablick---------------------------------------------------------
I came across her account a few months ago, when I saw someone tweet about her feed. I quickly went to check out what all the commotion was about, and pretty much straight away I followed her. She’s a travel blogger, which absolutely stunning pictures, that look like they’ve been taken in paradise. Other than that, she is beautiful as well, making every photo, whether it be of her or of the scenery, perfect.

---------------------------------------------------------kyliejenner-----------------------------------------------------------
We all know that I have a slight obsession with Kylie. Her style is always on pointe, her makeup is flawless, her body is goals, and she makes the funniest snapchats.

-------------------------------------------------------princesspiamia-------------------------------------------------------
My queen recently. Also a big fashion inspiration, she always has an original touch to every outfit, and she is absolutely stunning. Sometimes you might even get a 15 second glimpse of a new song or a cover, and those are just heaven.

-----------------------------------------------------------alexisren-----------------------------------------------------------
A typical, stunning, blonde model, with a body to die for. Her boyfriend is also goals, and he makes the most beautiful videos of her in different places of the world on his youtube channel.

--------------------------------------------------------fashionviideo---------------------------------------------------------
This is one of those accounts that posts videos of all the things I wish I could do perfectly, like my nails, cooking, DIYs and perfect contour. It’s really useful to get ideas for different makeup looks, hair styles and nail inspiration for when you go to the salon.

These are my top 5 Instagram accounts that I am loving at the moment. What are yours? Love, Sara xx

PEOPLE I ADMIRE IN THE FASHION WORLD

Admiration is a feeling I have towards a lot of people. I have admiration for my parents, for important figures in my life, for celebrities and for people who have changed the world, or at least my world. Today I’m going to talk about 3 people who I admire because they have impacted the way I design and my outlook on the fashion world.

I admire Christian Dior because he is one of my biggest inspirations when I design. He went from having a little design house to creating the New Look, which evolved fashion in such a way that no one could have predicted. He only had his fashion label for almost 11 years before he passed, but he still managed to make such an impact on the world of fashion.

I admire Elie Saab, because somehow he manages to make all his dresses look immaculate. His details are always on point, and I am always so inspired by how he manages to make all his designs have a pattern, so his collections look put together and always stunning.

I admire Gaby Aghion, because she created one of my favourite luxury brands: Chloè. I am in love with especially the bags, which are created in beautiful shades and perfect sizes. When I buy my first designer handbag, I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a Chloè bag, as they are made so beautifully, with a range of colours that go with absolutely everything.

And lastly who inspires my own personal style:

I admire Kylie Jenner, whose sense of style impresses me even when it’s just leggings and a hoodie. She is definitely my biggest style influencer, and I admire how bold and fashion forward she is. I will forever be grateful to her for inspiring my latest collection that I am drawing, and when I’m having a bit of ‘designer’s block’, I can always turn to her to feel inspired again.

Who do you admire in the fashion world? Do you have someone who aspire to be able to dress like? Love, Sara xx

WHAT TO GET YOUR GIRLFRIEND ON VALENTINES DAY

A few days ago a friend of mine asked me what he could get his girlfriend for Valentines day. I told him I would think about it, and then I sent him a list of all the possible things a girl would like. I thought I would write a post about it, in case there are any guys out there who need a little help…
  1. Take her out to dinner. You should do this and then give her the present you have bought for her. Of course it doesn’t have to necessarily be dinner, it could be a film at the cinema, a picnic… whatever you know she likes to do with you.
  2. Flowers: any girl would love a bunch of roses, or her favourite flower(if you don’t know what her favourite flower is, which most guys wouldn’t, then stick with roses), with a special note of course on which is written a super cute message.
  3. Chocolates: subtly try and find out what her favourite type of chocolate is and buy her lots of, and put it in heart shaped box. Or you can buy her a pre made one, which won’t be as thoughtful though.
  4. If you’ve got the money, a trip. Who wouldn’t like a little holiday with her favourite guy?
  5. A frame with a photo of you two on a special day. Maybe you can even sneak a cute little message on the back of the photo…
  6. A movie that you both love to watch together.
  7. If you’re artistic in any way, you could draw her something, write her a poem or a song… Work on your strong points.

These are the things I would like to receive for Valentines day, but you have to try and pick out one that you know your girlfriend will love! Good luck in finding the perfect gift! Love, Sara xx

GWEN STEFANI URBAN DECAY PALETTE

As most of you guys might know, a large part of my collection is made up of eyeshadow palettes. Recently I have found a new one which has become my everyday essential. It’s the Gwen Stefani Urban Decay palette. There are fifteen shades to choose from, which range from very light nudes, like Bathwater, to darker shades like Serious or Blackout. The colours are extremely easy to blend, and I’ve been loving creating shades in my crease with the shade Zone. Even though most of the colours are browns and neutral colours, there are some shades that really ‘pop’. Punk is a dark plum shade, which is absolutely beautiful with a dark lip. Harajuku is a glittery pink which actually goes really well with Danger, which is a glittery midnight blue. Then there’s 1987, which is a gold shimmery shade. My favourite shades are definitely Baby, Zone, Steady, Punk and 1987, but I’m determined to do a tutorial using Harajuku and Danger, to do a glittery bright eye. It’s a really good addition to any collection, especially as it includes neutral colours, but also some other shades that wouldn’t normally be included in a nude palette. Have you ever tried this palette?

JANUARY LOVE LIST

For a while I’ve been thinking to do something like a monthly favourite, blog edition, but when Victoria started doing monthly Love Lists on her channel, I knew I would have to give it a go on here.
What I Ate: I went to a vegan restaurant that is in my town about four times this month, and I tried
the most amazing vegan coffee sorbet with dark chocolate.
What I Watched: my favourite series this month has definitely been season 4 of Homeland. If
you’ve never watched Homeland before you are missing out on a great
adrenaline pumping series. It really pulls you into the story, and I always end up
watching one series in a few days, because I can’t wait to find out what happens.
What I Snapped: my favourite photo this month was one I took for one of my Tips for Aspiring
Fashion Designers. I don’t know what it is about it, but I feel like the combination
of colours and textures is really pretty.
Who I Loved: this month I started reading Poppy Deyes’ blog a lot more. Her posts are mainly
about food and travel, and trust me, the foods she cooks are very enticing. I really
recommend you go and head over to her blog to read all about her.
What I Wore: lately I’ve really enjoyed wearing knitted jumpers and cosy clothes. Most of my
favourite ones are from H&M and Zara, but New Look also have some great ones.
What I Did: on the 15th I did my first mock exam! Now, this wasn’t a particularly exciting thing, but
I am definitely looking forward to finishing all my exams.
What I Drank: this month water has been my go to drink. I know this sounds a bit ‘yes but we all
drink water’, but that is all I drank, and lots of it! I’ve been trying to lose a bit of
weight(ignore the point above) and water is the best way to eat a bit less and stay a
                       bit more hydrated.
Where I Went: this weekend I went over to the UK to visit my brother and make a final decision on
what school I’m going to be going to next year. It was really exciting, but also
difficult decision, but I’m happy with the choice I’ve made!
What I Heard: this month I have absolutely been loving a few of Hayley Kiyoko’s songs. “Girls like
girls” has been one of my favourites for a while now, but recently I’ve also been
listening to “Cliffs Edge”. Her songs are paradise. That is all I have to say.
What I Used: I have recently been using the Aussie Shampoo and Conditioner, and they are now
my favourites. If you want, you can read my review here.

This is it guys! Let me know what you thought in the comments below, and I will see you on Wednesday! Love, Sara xx

HOW TO KEEP WARM IN THE WINTER

Here in Italy, the winter is very cold. I’m normally someone who is always hot, but this year I suffered from the cold a lot, so i thoughtI would share with you my tips for staying warm.
  1. Wear layers. the most important things is to have layers of clothing on. You can always take things off if you get hot, but you can’t put on something you don’t have with you if you’re out.
  2. If you’re in the house, have a hot-water-bottle always with you. These are my lifesavers, and I always have at least one with me while I work or study.
  3. In the morning put your clothes on the radiator so they get nice and warm before you have to put them on, it’s a much nicer way to get up in the morning.
  4. Have hot drinks. This might seem very obvious, but I know people that never drink anything hot during the day, even if they’re cold. Even if you don’t like coffee or tea, you can have a nice warm hot chocolate.
  5. Always wear socks. They are so easy to not think about, but they make a huge difference. You can find cosy socks anywhere nowadays, so I really recommend buying a few pairs to wear day and night.

I hope these tips were useful. What’s the weather like now in your country? Love, Sara xx

ps. these are my favourite warm socks, my cozy jumper, and my hot water bottle called Jim xx

HOW TO PROTECT YOUR HAIR FROM THE HEAT: AUSSIE

Last summer I wrote a post about my favourite shampoo and conditioner, and since then I have used that nearly every single time I shower. Recently though, I have tried something new, and let me tell you, it’s an even better replacement. For a really long time I had wanted to try some Aussie products, so last time I was in England I picked up a shampoo and conditioner to try out. I chose the Take The Heat, because I wanted to see if it would be useful, so m hair wouldn’t get ruined every time I curl it or straighten it.

A few weeks back I tried it for the first time, and then curled my hair, and it has never felt so soft! Sometimes, when you put too much heat on your hair, it can look a bit like straw and very ruined at the tips, but using this shampoo and conditioner a few times, I can tell you that you will definitely see the results.

Have you ever tried any aussie products? Do you have any to recommend? Love, Sara xx

PERIOD TIPS AND TRICKS

Periods are something that most of us girls need to go through until we’re in our 50s/60s. For some people they aren’t a big deal: they feel no pain at all and have very light ones. For others, that can be horrible days of the month, with aches and pains for days.

BLOGGERS AND YOUTUBERS YOU SHOULD BE FOLLOWING

Today I wanted to talk to you guys about some of my favourite bloggers and youtubers out there. I’m not going to talk about many, not because I don’t enjoy reading or watching others if not the ones I’m going to talk about today, but because it would defeat the purpose of ‘favourite’. If you want a list of youtubers/blogs I enjoy reading and watching, let me know and I will do just that.

Victoria, more commonly known as Inthefrow, is a luxury fashion and beauty blogger and youtuber. She also wrights about different places she has travelled to, with photos that are just beautiful and so captivating. She recently did one about her trip to the Maldives, which is amazing to read and look at all the stunning photos, specially if you’re broke and know you will probably never be able to go. She also occasionally writes personal blog posts, which happened very recently, at the begging of the new year(here), which are so amazing to reflect on, and really are an insight on Victoria’s personality. But you really get to know her through her videos, and vlogs. She is sweet and caring, and I don’t know this because I’ve have the pleasure to meet her, but because of how she relates herself to everyone around her, from her boyfriend Alex and all her friends, to all her viewers and readers. She recently tweeted about me, making me feel oh so grateful for her existence, even more than I was before. She is my biggest style inspiration and I can always count on her to have a good makeup review that I can trust. I will leave all her links below, so make sure to check her out.

MY FAVOURITE YANKEE CANDLES

Today I want to talk about some of my all time favourite candles. Over the last few months my obsession for candles has really grown, as I now often will light one while I’m studying, or while I’m just chilling in my room. I always rely on Yankee Candle to have the scents I’m looking for, even though, I will admit, they’re not great if you don’t want to spend much money. In that case, Ikea or any shop that sells home decor will have some really good, cheap alternatives.
ps. Yankee Candle is amazing at giving names to candles, they smell exactly like their name, so my description of the scents wont be that interesting :)
I’m going to put these in an order of preference, so you can know which ones I prefer.

TIPS FOR ASPIRING FASHION DESIGNERS: INSPIRATION

Finding inspiration is one of the most important parts in the process of making a collection. It can come from anywhere: nature, other designers, architecture, fashion history or celebrities.

Firstly you should choose a muse.
It could be a celebrity or someone you know. Everything you design should be something you could imagine them wearing. This is already a great starting point for creating silhouettes and colours.

Then you should choose a colour palette that you think would suit his/her skin tone, and that go with the season you are making the collection for. There are no rules for this, but I would stick to the basics if it’s your first one.

Then you should search images on the internet, or photos you have taken yourself, of places in nature that are inspiring, and that you design something upon. It could be the sea, a sunset, leaves or flowers.

You can then search certain years, like the 20s or the 50s, and take inspiration from shapes and colours that were in fashion back then.

Lastly, you can get inspiration from everyday life. I sometimes see buildings that have a nice colour, or make me think of a certain style of clothing, and I will take a photo and make a little voice memo to remind myself later.

It’s a great way to take inspiration from your surrounding, maybe even the best.
What’s your inspiration?
 Love, Sara xx

PS. I really hope you enjoyed this little series of tips on fashion designing, if you have any more, just let me know xx

When I first started getting into fashion designing, when I was about nine years old, I would copy my drawings from books and magazines. I thought today I would tell you what are the best books you can own about fashion and that are great inspiration.
I received The Teen Vogue Handbook when I turned 13, and since then that has been my source for a lot of information. It’s great if you want to find out more about the business, the names you need to know, and where are the best places to study.
I actually received the next four books all last Christmas. The first one i’m going to talk about is 50 Contemporary Fashion Designers You Should Know, which is, as the title says, a book that talks about designers you should keep an eye on, as they are amazing unknown, or emerging designers. I’ve found some great designers in that book, and I really like to read it now and then to find some inspiration.
Then I have Japanese Street Style by Pat Little, this book i absolutely amazing for inspiration. The Japanese fashion culture is absolutely crazy, and they have strange but amazing ideas on how to pair things.
The next two books are pretty much just for fashion culture. 20th Century Fashion by Jim Heimann and Alison A. Nieder and Vogue Covers by Thames & Hudson are two books, mainly pictures, of ads from the last one hundred years, and the Vogue covers since 1920.
I absolutely love these books, and out of all the fashion books I own, they are definitely my favourites!
Do you own any of these?
Love, Sara xx
